Surrender?....NUTS! – A Lesson from history:  The Battle

of the Bulge Response for Santorum Super PAC’s Absurd Request

ATLANTA, Mar 8 – “The idea that Newt should get out is ridiculous” says Gregg Phillips of Winning Our Future – a Super PAC supporting Gingrich and other conservative causes - in response to a call for Gingrich to step aside made from Stuart Roy of The Red, White and Blue Fund.  “Newt is the true conservative in the race and he’s the only one running who can take the fight to Obama and defeat him decisively in the fall.  The notion that somehow Santorum is way ahead is just a bunch of spin that the pro-Romney establishment wants you to believe - because Newt is who Romney and Obama really fear.  They would love for folks to believe it’s just Santorum.”

Backing up Phillip’s statement is the raw vote total, showing that Santorum is barely ahead of Gingrich even after last night.   “This is something no one is talking about, and they should be.  For all of the hoopla about Santorum being way ahead of Newt and how many states he has won – his support is really vaporous.  He has yet to show the ability to go into a full-fledged primary and win with a big turnout.

Turnout was down in Tennessee and way down in Oklahoma.  In Missouri, exit polls show many of his votes came from Newt supporters just casting an anti Romney vote.  If Newt were on the ballot in Missouri, he’d clearly still lead Santorum in votes.  All the other states ‘won’ by Santorum were caucuses with tiny turn out numbers.  You cannot win the General Election that way.”

Phillips also pointed out that “we also know Romney is a candidate no one really wants, and that Newt is the only one who can win a state with a large turnout, which is the only way our side can possibly win in November.

“The only way Mitt can win is to drive down the vote with an avalanche of negative ads” added Phillips.  “He has yet to win any other way.  The only way Santorum wins a state is to play niche politics with tiny turnouts.  Neither will beat Obama.  The way to beat Obama is how Newt did it in South Carolina and Georgia – by focusing on big ideas, big government liberals, and by bringing out huge numbers.  Newt is not leaving the race.  He plans on beating Obama.”

Phillips also made it clear that “American voters will choose our nominee.  They will choose the man who can lead a movement to remove Barack Obama - and a lot of other liberals - from power.  They will make that pick.  Not some Super PAC or the establishment media. We are full speed ahead and not backing down.”

More Than Just A Truly Great Patriot and Warrior: The

Loss of Andrew Breitbart is Somehow Personal to us all

ATLANTA, Mar 1 – “ We could say that America lost a great and fearless warrior today when we lost Andrew Breitbart ” said C. Edmund Wright of Winning Our Future, a Super PAC supporting Newt Gingrich and other conservative causes.   “And we would be correct.  We could say he was an internet innovator, an entrepreneur and a leader.  And we would be right.  We could add that he was a patriot who passionately loved this country and fearlessly and effectively fought against forces trying to destroy it.  And we would also be right.

“But all of that would be to miss what conservatives are truly feeling today.  All of us, whether we knew him or not, are feeling the loss of a soul mate and of a comrade in arms.  This is a personal loss as well as a national loss for all of us.  He fought for us and he did it with such ferocity and creativity that we all have been moved to cheering, to laughter, and to tears by his work.  Andrew, we will miss you deeply.  But we will not let you down.  We will keep your work alive.  Our country depends on it, as you know more than almost anyone else.  Thank you and God bless you.”

IT’S THE ENERGY, STUPID!

It’s the energy, stupid!

by C. Edmund Wright

Spokesman for Winning Our Future Super PAC

Government is too big, burdensome and expensive and ripping the America we know right out from under us.  But nothing rips it away faster than punitive energy prices.  Conversely, nothing could be done to restore security, freedom and opportunity quicker than unleashing energy discovered since 2000.  It really could be our magic bullet.

President Gingrich would fire that bullet.

As Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi continue to make cartoonish comments our nation continues to sink.  Real Americans understand what the Washington bubble dwellers don’t:  energy prices are not some esoteric commodity trading in a vacuum.

Energy fuels reality, and when prices are high due to self-inflicted liberalism –  we lose our security, freedom and opportunities. Meanwhile politicians act like this is just an issue of pain at the pump.

That pain sends negative shock waves through our entire society and is washing our very country out from under us.  These waves impact employment, the dollar, inflation, food prices and security.  Energy impacts every fiber of our lives.

Newt has understood this for years.

“This is why I am running for President” said Gingrich in a February 22nd video.  “This administration is crippling our efforts to create a better future.  They are literally holding workshops on how to stop it.  This is a big topic that relates to national security, your personal budget, the economy and to balancing the Federal budget.”

Newt knows American energy is literally a magic bullet in each of these areas.  It’s the issue that is the key to every other.  Yet our government is doing everything wrong on energy.

“You have to be somebody who doesn’t understand America to do what they’re doing” said Gingrich of Energy Secretary Steven Chu.  “A lot of academic liberals, and Dr. Chu is one, live on a nice campus and bicycle to their lab.  They have no idea how the average American lives.  Abolish the Energy Department.”

While academics like Chu have been holding workshops paid for by Americans on how to destroy America, the private sector has been making some incredible discoveries.

“An historic fact is going to change our understanding of our future” says Gingrich.  “North Dakota and the Bakken Formation.  We have at least 25 times as much oil as we used to think.  The reason we know this is it’s private land and the liberals weren’t able to block (exploration).  We may have 3X as much oil as Saudi Arabia.”

That’s revolutionary with a capital R - if we would but accept it and act on it.

“And there’s a parallel revolution in natural gas” Gingrich notes.  “As recently as 2000, we thought it was a declining commodity with a 7 year supply.  We now know we have at least a 100 year supply.”

This magic bullet is not fantasy.  It’s far more accessible than SDI was for Reagan or the moon for JFK and energy’s impact is far more foundational.  Simply taking the first steps would dramatically improve almost everything almost immediately.  Liberals say ‘drill here, drill now’ will not work - leaving out the minor detail that they have stood in the way.

And consider their illiteracy on the subject, proving our case while demonstrating their own  ignorance.  A recent statement from Pelosi said  “speculators are driving up the cost of oil…Wall Street profiteering, not oil shortages, is the cause of the price spike.”

Amazing.  On one hand liberals say drilling won’t impact anything for 20 years and on the other that daily trading is the problem.  Under Reagan we saw that the mere intent to develop our resources will send the price of oil plummeting immediately.

But stopping it is all Obama cares about.  “The U.S. Attorney has filed a lawsuit because 8 birds have been found dead near oil fields” noted Gingrich.  “Now  thousands of birds are killed by wind turbines. I’m fascinated by the selective prosecution of oil companies over 8 birds because (of) the ideological radicals in the Obama Administration.”

Thus we are on a precipice – a dangerous tipping point that will define our future. There is a bureaucratic entitlement society that is threatening to spend us into oblivion to support the entitlement class and the bureaucrats hired to serve them.  This might swallow us whole.  Frighteningly, these two classes are almost big enough to vote us down that destructive road.  They threaten – in their ignorance – the golden goose that enables them today.

The other option is a huge and powerful golden goose option.  And it’s not complicated.  As Gingrich says, we can “enable the American people to develop so much energy that we no longer have to care what the Iranians do in the Straits of Hormuz.  We’ll put Americans back to work,  keep American money here at home and strengthen the dollar. We’ll have an entirely new stream of revenues to the treasury and we’ll balance the budget without raising taxes.”

It’s simple: Newt Here. Newt Now. Pay Less.  But it’s far more.  We really are sitting on a magic bullet that can restore the America so many of us fear is slipping away.  As Newt has said, if we will but unleash our people and our resources, “we will live much freer and more independently.”

Nothing else matters.

TEAM SPORT?  REALLY?

The Most Negative of All Candidates Suddenly Tries

to Hide Liberal Votes Behind Team Sport Nature of Politics

“Well, well, well - what do you know?  Someone finally looked at Rick Santorum’s record and found a lot of liberalism,” says C. Edmund Wright of Winning Our Future, a Super PAC supporting Newt Gingrich and other conservative causes.  “And now he wants to hide those actions behind the notion of taking one for the team?  Really?  The guy who refused to look at Newt’s record of speaker through the prism of political reality of dealing with a liberal President and a wimpy Senate suddenly wants everyone else to cut him some slack?  The same guy who has forgotten the name Obama in his zeal to criticize other Republicans is now focused on the team? Give me a break.  This is not going to work.”

Wright was referring to perhaps the worst moment among many bad moments in Tuesday’s debate for the former Pennsylvania Senator, when Santorum was almost pleading for folks to realize that “sometimes politics is a team sport” and that he has simply “taken one for the team” at times.

“You know, this wouldn’t be as much of an issue if the entire Santorum campaign hadn’t been based in the sheer fantasy that somehow he has been above political reality in his career,” added Wright.  “Quite the opposite is true.  His over all conservative rating is not the best– he is below Newt in that regard.  And, keep in mind, this is the guy who has been the most self-righteous and the preachiest about all of his so-called pure conservatism all along.

“Folks who live in political glass houses shouldn't throw stones, and Santorum’s thrown a lot of stones in all these debates and now his glass house is being exposed,” said Wright.  “His support of Arlen Specter and how that led to Obama Care is one thing, but what is really amazing is here is a guy who bragged in his 2006 campaign about expanding food stamps and Head Start and now he wants to be the ‘true conservative?’  If it weren't so critical that we nominate someone who can actually take Obama down, it would almost be funny.  We don’t need the ‘food stamp senator’ running against the man Newt has correctly called ‘the food stamp President.’  And once again last night, Newt proved that he is simply on another plane of discussion than all the other candidates.”

In addition to last night’s debate, Wright was referring to a 2006 Santorum Campaign brochure and web page called 50 Things You May Not Know About Rick Santorum.  “The title of that is ironic today, isn’t it,” asked Wright.  “In 2006, his campaign wanted moderates and liberals to know he was really one of them on many issues.  And yet, this is the guy who claims to be the true conservative and moreover, this is the guy who claims that he lost in 06 because he stood up for conservatism.  Sorry Senator, that is just not even close to being true.”

Wright added that “Tuesdays’ debate was quite a contest between Romney and Santorum to see who had the most holes in their case for being a conservative.  They both had compelling cases, if you know what I mean.  Meanwhile, Newt just stood aside and focused on Obama and was brilliant.”

Press Release: Cuccinelli Says Virginians Will Be “Embarrassed” by “Sad” Ballot Law

Cuccinelli Says Virginians Will Be “Embarrassed” by “Sad” Ballot Law -- Virginia’s AG Fights Back Against Ridiculous “rules are the rules” Bureaucracy

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Texas Governor Rick Perry and a lot of Virginia voters are not the only ones upset about the insanely bureaucratic Virginia Primary Ballot Access system.  Virginia’s well -respected conservative Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli weighed in this week on the side of common sense - and predicted that ultimately the Commonwealth of Virginia would end up on that side as well.

"I don't think I am going to have to ask," says Cuccinelli of the state legislature. "I think there's going to be a stampede of people who are, frankly, somewhat embarrassed that this is the course things have taken in light of our ballot access rules."

Cuccinelli speculated that if nothing changes, the diminished primary “will lower Virginia's profile in the general election.”   As it stands now - the contest would be an odd intramural exercise featuring only Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.  Currently Gingrich is well ahead in most Virginia and national polls and Perry also polls fairly well in Virginia.  They would be excluded as would Rick Santorum, John Huntsman and Michelle Bachmann.

Cuccinelli added that “(campaign) folks tell me that Virginia is the third hardest ballot access state in the country. I personally don't think that's a good thing. Our own laws have reduced our relevance. Sad.”

“Does anybody think that leaving most of the Republican field off the Virginia ballot makes any sense?” said Rick Tyler of Winning Our Future, who is a registered Virginia voter.  “Virginia’s proud motto reads sic semper tyrannis – thus always to tyrants.  Virginians should be outraged that the bureaucratic establishment has rigged the game leaving us without the ability to vote for the candidate of our choice.  They’ve even told us that if we write in a candidate’s name, it won’t be counted.”

Tyler added that every freedom-loving Virginian should reject the establishment’s arbitrary rules and insist that all the Republican candidates for president appear on the Virginia primary ballot in March.”

Winning Our Future’s C. Edmund Wright stated that “conservatives are supposed to stand up against meaningless and arbitrary laws and bureaucracies, which is exactly what this is.  Clearly the law does not accomplish what it was designed to do.  It simply adds unnecessary costs to not only all of the campaigns, but to the Virginia taxpayers as well.  No conservative can possibly support this with a straight face.”

Wright added that “Virginia runs the risk of being a strange outlier on Super Tuesday.  Can you imagine all of the state results pouring in on that day with Newt winning against crowded fields  - and then they put up two little names from Virginia?  I don’t think that’s the role the voters of Virginia deserve.  But that’s what their bureaucracy has gotten them.”

Former Gingrich Aide Joins Winning Our Future Super PAC

Rick Tyler signs on to Gingrich presidential nomination effort

ATLANTA, Dec 20 – Becky Burkett, President of the Winning Our Future Super PAC [www.winningourfuture.com], today announced the addition of Rick Tyler to her management team.  Tyler was named senior advisor and will be involved in all aspects of the independent effort to secure the Republican presidential nomination for Newt Gingrich.

Both Burkett and Tyler worked together previously for Mr. Gingrich in separate capacities.

“Our objective is to drive home the Former Speaker’s conservative leadership on issues such as job creation, debt reduction, American energy independence, and judicial reform throughout his career.  We look forward to the contribution Rick will make to this important effort in the coming weeks and months,” Ms. Burkett said in her announcement.  “His wealth of experience, leadership, and belief in the cause will be valuable assets to our effort.”

“It’s a great blessing for me to be able to participate in the effort to elect Newt Gingrich,” Tyler said.  ”He shares the values and frustrations of the great majority of Americans during these trying times and will stand as a bulwark against the incursions of big government.  Newt will fight the battles and fight to preserve American values as he has for 30 years.  We need his kind of conservative leadership to set the stage for America’s resurgence after too long a period of malaise that has left us shaken but not bowed.”

Tyler served Gingrich for over a decade as press secretary and spokesperson.  He also founded Renewing American Leadership, a faith-based not-for-profit organization created by the former speaker focused on family, faith, freedom and free-enterprise.
